Authorities in Dong Nai Province are investigating a doctor accused of attempting to rape a 30-year-old female patient during a consultation at his private clinic.
The People’s Procuracy of Dinh Quan District in the southern province on Thursday approved the three-month detention of Nguyen Van Chien, a doctor at Dinh Quan District General Hospital, for police to investigate him under allegations of sexual assault.
According to case records, the incident occurred on the evening of Dec. 29, 2024, when the woman visited Chien’s clinic at his home in Dinh Quan District for a consultation.
Exploiting the absence of other people, Chien allegedly attempted to force her into sexual activity.
The victim reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation.
Police gathered evidence implicating Chien, which led to his temporary detention.
A senior official at Dinh Quan District General Hospital confirmed that the alleged offense took place outside of Chien’s working hours and at his private residence. The hospital has suspended Chien from his duties pending further investigation.
