Today, January 10 is celebrated as World Hindi Day to promote Hindi language at the international level. Here in ancient times, before Hindi, Sanskrit language was prevalent. It is said that Hindi is currently the third most spoken language in the world. Hindi originally originated from Sanskrit language. Hindi is most special not only in India but in many countries of the world where Hindu Day is celebrated.

Let us tell you how the Hindi language originated in the country. Here regarding Hindi Day, it is said that in ancient times, Vedic Sanskrit was used in India between 1500 BC and 1000 BC. All four Vedas and Upanishads are written in this language. After this, secular Sanskrit emerged. Pali language, which originated from secular Sanskrit, was used by Gautam Buddha to write his sermons.

After this, Prakrit language emerged from this Pali language. It is believed that Hindi was formed from Avahatta, an Apabhramsh (degraded form of the language) of Pali itself. It is said that Apabhramsha languages ​​started being used in literature around 1000 AD.

What are the three periods of Hindi history called?

Let us tell you that three periods of Hindi history have been described, here the first period is the ancient period, the second period is the medieval period and the third period is the modern period. It is told here that the ancient period is considered to be from 1000 AD to 1500 AD. During this period, poems were composed and Raso texts were written. After this, the period between 1500 AD and 1900 AD is considered to be the medieval period. This is also called devotional time.

During this period, a lot was written in regional dialects regarding devotion to God. The modern period began in the 19th century, in which prose was written in abundance. During the British rule, Hindi made an important contribution in uniting the people of the country and the Constituent Assembly declared Hindi as the official language of India on September 14, 1949.

These three Apabhramsha are the origin of Hindi

Let us tell you that linguist Bholenath Tiwari has mentioned five types of Apabhramsha on regional basis. These include Shaurseni (central), Magadhi (eastern), Ardhamagadhi (central), Maharashtrian (southern), Vrachad-Paishachi (western). According to Bholanath Tiwari, Hindi developed from three forms of Apabhramsha, Shaurseni, Magadhi and Ardhamagadhi.
