Hindu man's murder case, main accused arrested in Bangladesh; Rejected Indian allegations
Dhaka: Police have arrested the main accused Mohammad Subaj Hossain in the murder of 60-year-old Hindu man Tarun Chandra Das in Natore district of Bangladesh. The body of Tarun Das was found on December 21 at Bara Harishpur cremation ground in Natore. The body's hands and legs were tied with rope and it was strangled to death. Initial investigation by the police found that the thieves killed Das while stealing from the Bara Harishpur crematorium in the district. The statement said that at the time of recovery, the hands and legs of the body were tied with a rope and the face was covered with a cloth.
The statement said, “Initially, it is believed that the victim, Tarun Kumar Das, tried to scream after seeing the thieves when the unidentified thieves were stealing from the bhogar inside the cremation ground and the thieves tied his hands and legs. And strangled him to death.”

According to the police, Tarun Das was mentally unwell for a long time and lived in the crematorium. In a statement late on Friday, police said, “On January 9, Natore police arrested the main accused Mohammad Subaz Hussain (24) from Chittagong in connection with the incident. Hussain confessed to the crime, saying that he murdered Das with the help of his associates Hasan Mondal, Sajib Hasan, Tota, Talha and Al-Mutaqbir while stealing from the crematorium. Police are investigating the matter further.
Bangladesh rejected Indian allegations
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Thursday termed India's allegations of “mistreatment of Indian fishermen” as “baseless and fabricated”.
“Bangladesh expresses its deep dismay and dismay at the baseless comments and fabricated allegations of ill-treatment and physical ill-treatment of detained Indian fishermen by Bangladeshi authorities,” the statement said. Bangladesh strongly rejects such baseless allegations which undermine the spirit of trust, goodwill and mutual respect between Bangladesh and India. The relevant authorities of Bangladesh have confirmed that the detained fishermen were not physically abused under any circumstances. “The matter was thoroughly investigated and it was found that no such incident of abuse or physical abuse took place.”
