Tamim Iqbal Announce Retirement: Bangladesh's brilliant batsman Tamim Iqbal has once again announced his retirement from international cricket. This is the second time that he has announced retirement from international cricket. Tamim first announced his retirement during a press conference in July 2023. After the intervention of the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, he reversed his decision within 24 hours. Tamim informed the Bangladesh selectors about his decision in Sylhet on Wednesday.
Selectors had requested to play in Champions Trophy
The selection committee led by Ghazi Ashraf Hussain had urged him to return for the upcoming Champions Trophy, but Tamim had made up his mind to retire. However, some of his teammates including captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto have requested him to reconsider this decision. However, Tamim took a day and remained firm on his decision of retirement.

According to ESPN report, Tamim wrote on Facebook, “I have been away from international cricket for a long time. That distance will remain. My chapter in international cricket has ended. I was thinking about this for a long time. Now when a big event like the Champions Trophy is coming, I don't want to be the center of attention and divert the team's attention. Of course, I didn't want this before.”
He further said “Captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto honestly asked me to return to the team. This was also discussed with the selection committee. I am grateful to him for including me in the team. However, I followed my heart.”

Tamim's cricket career
Tamim Iqbal played 70 Tests, 243 ODIs and 78 T20 matches for Bangladesh in his cricket career. Tamim had scored 5134 runs in 70 test matches. In which he scored 10 centuries, 1 double century and 31 half-centuries with his bat. Apart from this, he had scored 8357 runs in ODI, in which he had scored 14 centuries and 56 half-centuries. Whereas in T20 cricket, Tamim had scored 1758 runs. Which included 1 century and 7 half-centuries. Tamim played his last international match in the year 2023.
