Thailand’s passport has risen two places to 61st in the early 2025 edition of the Henley Passport Index, published by British global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley & Partners.
This marks the highest ranking for Thailand, Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, over the past decade, according to the Henley Global Mobility Report.
Thai citizens now enjoy visa-free access to 82 out of 227 destinations worldwide.
Known for its tourism-driven economy, Thailand is lauded for its traveler-friendly visa policies, granting visa waivers to tourists from 93 countries and territories.
In the global rankings, Singapore maintains its position as the holder of the world’s most powerful passport, with visa-free access to 195 countries and territories.
Japan ranks second, offering its citizens visa-free entry to 193 destinations.
Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain share third place, with visa-free access to 192 destinations.
The Henley Passport Index evaluates global travel freedom across 227 destinations using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
It ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without a prior visa. The index is updated throughout the year to reflect changes in visa policies and is widely regarded as a leading measure of global mobility.
