‘Complete devastation’: LA Lakers coach JJ Redick’s home burned down in LA wildfires

New Delhi: Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Reddick is among the thousands of people who have been adversely affected by the deadly wildfires that have wreaked havoc on the city. Reddick’s house was burned down in the wildfires that have taken the lives of at least 11 people while leaving hundreds of houses and other properties destroyed.

Reddick revealed it has been destruction and devastation as he reacted to losing his precious house in the wildfires. His home in the Pacific Palisades area was left destroyed after getting engulfed in the wildfires earlier this week. Besides property destruction and loss of lives, the wildfires in Los Angeles have also led to mass displacement.

There have been widespread evacuations and the locals are still dealing with multiple power outages as the emergency efforts continue to tackle the wildfires and rescue those stuck. Several notable celebrities have also been affected, including the likes of Hollywood stars like Jamie Lee Curtis and Billy Crystal, who lost their homes.

There are certain things you can’t replace: Reddick after losing his house

Reddick, a former NBA player, joined the LA Lakers as their head coach last year and was staying at his home in the Pacific Palisades for a long time. A devastated Reddick said there were certain things in his house which were irreplaceable and there was also stuff that was dear to him and his wife, symbolising their relationship of 20 years.

“I went through most of the village and it’s all gone. It’s complete devastation and destruction. Everything we own that was of any importance to us after 20 years together as a couple and 10 years of parenting was in that house. There are certain things that you can’t replace,” Reddick was quoted as saying by BBC.

“I don’t think you can ever prepare yourself for something like that,” he added.

Fortunately, Reddick’s family members – his wife and two sons were not in the house when it got engulfed in the wildfires and burnt down. The 40-year-old, who played in the NBA for 15 years, had moved to Los Angeles from New York last year after being appointed as the head coach of the LA Lakers.
