Hyderabad: Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman and film producer Dil Raju has apologised for his comments on Telangana’s culture and appealed that he should not be dragged into politics.
During the “Sankrantiki Vastunam” movie promotional event held at Nizamabad on January 6, Dil Raju had said unlike in Andhra Pradesh, people in Telangana were crazy for toddy and mutton than movies.
“For our (Telangana) people movies are not favourite and the reaction invariably will be less. I informed the same to the film director. In Andhra, people give a vibe to cinema but here in Telangana toddy and mutton are given a vibe,” Dil Raju said.
However, his comments did not go well with people from different sections.
On Saturday, Dil Raju in a video message tendered apologies to the people. He also said that as a native of Telangana, he always admires the State’s culture and its people.
“I did not intend to demean Telangana’s culture and many people misunderstood my comments. I also appeal to all political parties not to drag me into controversies and politics,” Dil Raju said in the message.
