Mohammed Shami returns to Team India

Mohammed Shami has been picked for the upcoming five T20I series against England. His last game for the Men in Blue was the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Shami, who was carrying an ankle injury, went for surgery and after a long rehabilitation process, the veteran played a Ranji Trophy game for Bengal last year. He also took part in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

However, the selectors and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t include him for the second phase of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under.

According to the medical panel, Shami was not fit to play the longest format of the game as he was impacted by swollen knee twice. Meanwhile, he finally managed to convince the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee and the decision-makers have included him in the team. This information has been revealed by the Indian Express.

Suryakumar Yadav is the captain while Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have been rested. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who were part of the five-match Test series against Australia have found a place in the team.
