Avoid unknown messages, stay safe – Obnews

PAN card is a very important document for us. It is needed in banking, office and many government works. But scammers are taking advantage of this and trying to trap people. Recently a new scam has come to light, in which a message is being sent to the customers of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) that due to not updating the PAN card details, their bank accounts will be blocked in the next 24 hours. These messages also contain a link, clicking on which can cause huge loss. PIB (Press Information Bureau) has alerted people in this matter.

PIB warned
PIB has shared information regarding this scam. He said that these messages are completely fake. India Post has also clarified that it never sends such alerts. PIB posted on social media platform X advising people not to click on any unknown link and avoid sharing their personal details.

Use of phishing scam
Scammers use phishing techniques to commit this fraud. Through phishing, they try to obtain personal information like passwords, bank details or credit card numbers by sending fake emails, messages or links. These links often appear to be those of a genuine bank or some other trusted platform.

How to stay safe?
Share your PAN card details only with necessary and trusted sources.
Do not click on links in unknown emails or messages. Before clicking on the link, check its details.
Do not respond to any urgent message in a hurry.
