'My wife is beautiful, I keep looking at her', Anand Mahindra's response to L&T Chairman's statement

New Delhi: Amid the debate on increasing the working hours of employees, the statement of Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra is being discussed a lot. Addressing the Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 organized in Delhi, he said that quality is important in work, not its quantity. So it is not a matter of 48, 40 hours, 70 hours or 90 hours. It depends on the output of work. Even if you work for 10 hours, what output are you giving? Can you change the world in 10 hours?

Speaking at the program, Anand Mahindra further said that the debate about increasing working hours is wrong. I have great respect for Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and others. Therefore, I should not be misunderstood. I think increasing working hours is a wrong debate. While referring to the statement of L&T Chairman SN Subramanian, he jokingly said that my wife is very good. I keep looking at them. The debate should be on quality of work and not quantity.

What did SN Subramanian say?

Let us tell you that recently, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Chairman SN Subramanian, during an online conversation with his employees, had advised them to work 90 hours in a week. He said that if possible, the company will make you work on Sunday also. People expressed a lot of objection to this statement of SN Subramanian.
