Hyun Bin’s historical drama Harbin records over 4 million ticket sales in mere 19 days

According to a Korean Film Council report published on January 11, Hyun Bin’s historical drama Harbin sold over 4 million tickets in just 19 days of its premiere, maintaining its supremacy at the box office.

For 19 days in a row, Harbin topped the Korean box office. In order to commemorate the accomplishment, the ensemble Hyun Bin, Lee Dong Wook, Jo Woo Jin, and Park Hoon and director Woo Min Ho posted a heartfelt 16-second video on YouTube to show their gratitude.

With more than 3 million viewers from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day, the film previously had the biggest start of the year. A unique poster featuring the ensemble cast of the movie was released to commemorate the milestone.

Set in Japan-occupied Korea in 1990, Harbin tells the compelling story of Ahn Jung Geun (Hyun Bin), the only survivor of a brutal and violent fight, and his risky mission to assassinate Itō Hirobumi (Lily Franky), a potent symbol of Japanese oppression. Ahn Jung Geun had to go to Russia, get the necessary supplies, and avoid the security forces in order to carry out his assignment to kill Itō Hirobumi.
