BCCI rejects KL Rahul's appeal, will have to do this to play in Champions Trophy

Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly asked wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul to play the upcoming white-ball series against England. Earlier, news had come that Rahul had sought rest from the board, which was also approved as his place in the team was considered confirmed for the Champions Trophy to be held in February.

Will have to play ODI series against England

India will play five T20 and three ODI matches against England from January 22. Rahul played all five test matches against Australia last month. Because of this, he was going to take rest from the ODI series.

According to the Times of India report, “The selectors had earlier decided to rest Rahul from the entire white-ball series against England. But, later he reconsidered his decision and now BCCI has asked Rahul to play the ODI series so that he can get match practice before the Champions Trophy.

Rahul last played a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in August 2024, which was India's only ODI series that year.
