India's big step in IT hardware manufacturing, challenge to China

Obnews Tech Desk: A new direction has started in the field of IT hardware manufacturing in India, which has the potential to challenge China's dominance. By partnering with Taiwan's leading company MSI, India has prepared a blueprint to take its electronics manufacturing to new heights. A new assembly line for state-of-the-art laptops is being built at Sirma SGS Technology Limited in Chennai. The foundation stone of this assembly line was laid by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

Taiwan's partnership with MSI

Sirma SGS has joined hands with Taiwanese company MSI, a pioneer in AI-powered personal computers. MSI laptops will also be manufactured in this assembly line. The objective of this initiative is to make India a global electronics manufacturing hub and promote domestic laptop production.

Effect of PLI scheme

This project has been realized in just 18 months under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI 2.0) scheme of the Government of India. As a result, Sirma SGS in Tamil Nadu has started production of 'Made in India' laptops. So far, the scheme has created 3,900 jobs and generated Rs 10,000 crore.

New challenge for China

This alliance of India and Taiwan has given a tough challenge to China's IT hardware manufacturing. China, which till now was the leader in IT hardware and laptop production, may feel pressure from this new initiative of India.

This step of India will not only meet the demand of the domestic market, but will also establish its identity at the global level. Experts believe that this partnership will prove effective in challenging China's manufacturing power.
