Shami returns to India in T20 series against England
Mumbai.Mumbai. Nearly 14 months after last playing an international match, veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami returned to the Indian team on Saturday for the upcoming five-match T20 series against England. Shami, 34, last played for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad on November 19, after which he was out of the team for a long time due to an ankle injury, for which he had undergone surgery last year. Shami was unable to join the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia due to knee swelling, leaving Jasprit Bumrah to carry the burden of fast bowling. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the 15-member team in the series starting from January 22 in Kolkata.
