The police administration also seems to be fully prepared to make Mahakumbh 2025 safe and well organized. Security agencies are in full alert mode. Uttar Pradesh Police, Kumbh Mela Police, NSG, ATS, NDRF, and other paramilitary forces are continuously conducting mock drills to ensure tight security arrangements. The main objective of these mock drills was to provide better security to the devotees attending Mahakumbh during the time of emergency.

On Saturday, NSG, UP ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad), NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), and Water Police conducted a joint mock drill at the Boat Club of Prayagraj. In this drill, a scene of a terrorist attack was created. The planned scenario included hostage taking as well as a dirty bomb carried out by the terrorists.

NSG teams approached the target from two directions, using SDRF boats and by road, freed the hostages, and demonstrated neutralization of the CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) threat in the building.

NSG’s excellent performance in mock drill

During the mock drill, NSG commandos demonstrated rescuing devotees held hostage by terrorists, rescuing people from bomb blast and neutralizing a live bomb. NSG teams will also be deployed in Mahakumbh. These teams are fully capable of dealing with dirty bombs, suicide attacks and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

NDRF’s preparation to deal with chemical attack

NDRF teams also conducted mock drills to deal with the situation of chemical attack in the Maha Kumbh Mela. During this, the plan for quick response in emergency situations was tested. NDRF teams are proving their efficiency in reducing the impact of chemical and other hazards and in relief operations.
