Why do English players prefer PSL more than IPL? ECB took a U-turn and the reason came to light
Sports Desk: The 2025 IPL is in the news a lot. This year IPL is going to be even more fun, because this time many players are going to be seen leaving their old team and playing for another team. But in the meantime such news has come out which will definitely shock the Indian fans. The reason for this is the England Cricket Board, which is considering giving permission to its players to play Pakistan Super League.
In fact, there is also talk of conflict of schedules between the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League, in which earlier the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had prohibited its players from participating in all cricket leagues except IPL. But now there is good news for PSL in this matter.
Good news for PSL
ECB had taken this step to promote its domestic cricket and especially its big tournament 'The Hundred', its players will not participate in any foreign league except IPL. However, the players did not like this move at all. Around 50 English players threatened the ECB that they would boycott 'The Hundred' if they were stopped from playing in the PSL. After which now ECB has given relief to Pakistan Board.
ECB's Uturn
In this case, English players said that PSL has given them money, recognition and success. Due to tough competition in IPL, many English players do not get a chance, whereas in PSL they get a good platform. According to the report from Pakistan, after pressure from the players, ECB has decided to give NOC for PSL 2025.
Now England players will also play PSL
This news has come as a big relief to PSL team owners because the PSL 2025 draft is to be held on January 13. Now English players will be able to play in this league, so that team owners will be able to make their teams stronger. Now big players like Sam Billings, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow can be included in the draft.
