Delhi: Vidarbha captain and star batsman Karun Nair performed brilliantly in the quarter-final match against Rajasthan at the Motibagh Cricket Ground in Vadodara on Sunday, January 12, scoring his fourth consecutive century. Chasing the target of 292 runs, Vidarbha started with an opening partnership of 92 runs between Yash Rathod and Dhruv Shorey. Karun Nair, who came to bat at number three, made an important partnership with Dhruv Shorey. Shorey completed his century in 114 balls.

At the same time, 33-year-old Nair scored his fourth List A century with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes in just 77 balls. With this achievement, he became the third Indian and fifth batsman overall to score four consecutive centuries in List A cricket.

Karun Nair gave a strong performance with the bat and also made a new List A world record for scoring most runs in four innings. His scores in these four innings were 112 not out (Uttar Pradesh), 111 not out (Tamil Nadu), 163 not out (Chandigarh), and 44 not out (Chhattisgarh) respectively.

Not only this, before Nair, Devdutt Padikkal (2020-21) and N Jagadeesan (2022-23) have scored four consecutive centuries in List A cricket. Jagadeesan made a world record by scoring five consecutive centuries in the 2022-23 Vijay Hazare Trophy, while Kumar Sangakkara and Alviro Pietersen have also scored four List A centuries each.
