Ex-India star gives HUGE statement on Champions Trophy squad
The ex-India star in question here is Harbhajan Singh, who believes that Samson should be chosen over Pant in the Men in Blue’s Champions Trophy squad
Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh believes that there is a possibility that Sanju Samson will be picked over Rishabh Pant as the Men in Blue’s first-choice wicketkeeper for the ICC Champions Trophy which is set to commence from February 19.
After months of uncertainty, the Champions Trophy is almost a month away from returning after seven years. With the tournament set to begin in February, speculations have already begun as to which players will make it to India’s 15-man squad.
With Pant going through a long tour of Australia, Harbhajan feels it won’t be a “big thing” if Samson is preferred for the ICC Champions Trophy.
“I think one among Sanju Samson or Rishabh Pant should be picked. I feel Sanju should be preferred because he had played in South Africa. Rishabh played well in Australia, but it was a long tour, so if he is rested, it’s not a big thing,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.
Harbhajan also believes that there is a high chance that Axar Patel gets chosen over veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who recently featured for India in the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
“I have chosen Axar Patel over Ravindra Jadeja. I think Axar is ready to fulfil the role that Jadeja has done for so many years,” Harbhajan said.
