But still the film made for Rs 350 crore could not earn even Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office.
Kanguva caused loss to the makers

Tamil superstar Suriya's much awaited film 'Kanguva' was released in theaters after heavy promotion. However, this fantasy action drama directed by Siva received a lot of negative reactions from the audience and critics.
The film could not earn even Rs 100 crore
In terms of earnings, 'Kanguwa' opened its account with a brilliant Rs 24 crores but then its earnings kept falling continuously. The film earned only Rs 9.5 crore on the second day, while it collected Rs 9.85 crore on the third day, Rs 10.25 crore on the fourth day, Rs 3.15 crore on the fifth day and Rs 3.25 crore on the sixth day. The film had earned Rs 62.40 crore in its first 7 days. According to the report of Saknilk, this film earned a total of 70.02 crores at the Indian box office, while in terms of overall collection this figure was 106.25 crores.
Expectations were placed on the film
Before the release of the film, producer KE Gnanavel Raja had expressed confidence that 'Kanguva' would break records and earn more than Rs 2,000 crore worldwide. He also predicted that the film would become the first Tamil film to cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark, joining the ranks of blockbuster films like 'RRR', 'Baahubali' and 'KGF'. However, on the contrary, the film proved to be a complete disaster at the box office.
