GRAP IV Restrictions Reimposed in Delhi-NCR Amid Rising Pollution | Read
The Centre has reinstated GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) IV restrictions across Delhi-NCR following a significant decline in air quality. The decision was announced on Wednesday after pollution levels reached the “severe” category, raising public health concerns.
GRAP IV, the most stringent level of anti-pollution measures, includes a ban on non-essential construction activities, restrictions on industrial operations, and curbs on vehicular movement. Authorities have also urged residents to minimize outdoor activities and adopt environmentally conscious practices.
The air quality index (AQI) in Delhi has soared beyond the hazardous threshold, with high levels of particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) contributing to the smog enveloping the region. Experts attribute the spike to stubble burning, vehicular emissions, and adverse weather conditions.
Environmental groups and health officials have stressed the urgent need for collective action to combat pollution. The Centre has called for strict compliance with GRAP measures to mitigate the crisis and protect public health.
