BCCI is preparing to cut down on Gautam Gambhir, this decision may come soon
Gautam Gambhir: The Indian cricket team had to face 3-0 defeat in the home Test series against New Zealand. In the meeting held after this, there was a clear message from BCCI to head coach Gautam Gambhir that if the performance of the Indian team is not good in the Border-Gavaskar series, then his role can be reconsidered. The Australia tour was not good for Team India and BCCI seems ready to take a big decision.
BCCI can take this decision
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India can enter one more member in the coaching staff of Team India. The Indian team's batting was a complete flop during the Australia tour. In such a situation, the board is planning to add a batting coach to the coaching staff. The batting coach may not be Gautam Gambhir but of BCCI's choice. However, no official announcement has been made by the board on this.
Questions raised on role
When Gautam Gambhir became the head coach, he had prepared the coaching team of his choice and then he had ignored the choice of BCCI. The appointment of Abhishek Nair as assistant coach, Morne Morkel as bowling coach and Ryan Deutsch as fielding coach were done on Gambhir's demand but to no avail. Along with Gambhir, Abhishek Nair is getting the most criticism. It is his responsibility to improve the team's batting and the batting itself has been a complete flop in the last 2 test series.
Who can be the coach?
BCCI can appoint any Indian legend or big name of domestic cricket as batting coach. At present many names have not come up for discussion. According to reports, the batting coach may be appointed before the Champions Trophy.
