Getting into Thrayir’s Lore

Thrayir’s backstory adds depth to its allure. In ancient times, Thrayir conjured a devastating storm fueled by rage and despair to annihilate Cyrce’s enemies. This tempest has persisted for nearly ten thousand years, echoing Thrayir’s immense power. Now, Thrayir lies dormant in the Forgotten Vault on Siren Isle, awaiting a worthy adventurer to awaken and command its formidable strength.

Accessing Siren Isle and the Storm Phase

To begin your quest for Thrayir, travel to Siren Isle, a stormy island introduced in Patch 11.0.7. The island offers a new endgame experience, including quests, challenges, and rewards. To access the Storm Phase—a unique state of the island essential for obtaining Thrayir—you must complete the weekly quest “Serpent’s Wrath.” This quest involves participating in events, defeating mobs, and collecting resources on Siren Isle. Upon completion, speak with Suzie Boltwrench in the main quest hub to activate the Storm Phase.

Collecting the Five Runekeys

Thrayir is imprisoned within the Forgotten Vault, surrounded by five runestones: Cyclonic, Whirling, Thunderous, Turbulent, and Torrential. To release and claim Thrayir as your mount, you must gather the corresponding Runekeys. Here’s how to obtain each one:

  1. Cyclonic Runekey:
    • Source: Drops from Zek’ul the Shipbreaker, a rare elite located in the Deadfin Mire area of Siren Isle.
    • Coordinates: Approximately 33.2, 73.6.
    • Note: Zek’ul appears during the Storm Phase. Alternatively, players with a fishing skill of 300 have reported obtaining the Cyclonic Runekey within 10–50 casts in the waters near Zek’ul’s spawn point.
  2. Thunderous Runekey:
    • Source: Assemble by collecting 5 Thunderous Fragments.
    • Fragments Location:
      1. Randomly found in treasure chests and Seafarer’s Caches around Siren Isle.
      2. The Blessing of the Seadweller buff, obtained from the quest “Dipping a Toe,” enhances your ability to find underwater treasures.
    • Note: Fragments can be collected in any phase, but the Blessing of the Seadweller is particularly useful for underwater exploration.
  3. Torrential Runekey:
    • Source: Combine 7 Torrential Fragments.
    • Fragments Location:
      1. Dropped by various mobs on Siren Isle during the Storm Phase.
    • Farming Tip: Engaging in battles near the Forgotten Vault entrance (coordinates 41.92, 25.78) can be efficient due to the high density of mobs.
  4. Turbulent Runekey:
    • Source: Assemble by finding 3 unique Turbulent Fragments during the Storm Phase.
    • Fragments Locations:
      1. In a dirt pile in the garden of an old inn, near a ghost.
        • Coordinates: Approximately 38.2, 51.8.
      2. Inside the Rotting Hole cave, near a ghost and a torn paper.
        • Coordinates: Around 67.1, 78.4.
      3. In the hands of a ghost kneeling at a runestone inside the Spirit-Scarred Cave.
        • Coordinates: Approximately 52.4, 38.6.
  5. Whirling Runekey:
    • Source: Drops from Ksvir the Forgotten, located in the southernmost room of the Forgotten Vault.
    • Coordinates: Entrance to the Forgotten Vault is around 44.04, 23.13.
    • Note: Ksvir appears during the Storm Phase and has a high chance of dropping the Whirling Runekey.

    • Note: Ensure the Storm Phase is active to access the vault and interact with its contents.
  2. Activate the Runestones:
    • Locate Thrayir’s inert body, surrounded by the five runestones.
    • Use each Runekey on its corresponding runestone to activate them.
  3. Awaken Thrayir:
