According to a media report, America's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has excluded some major nuclear institutions of India from its Nuclear Control Law i.e. 'Entity List'. Which includes Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research (IGCAR), and Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL). The 'Entity List' is used by the US to impose trade sanctions on organizations that may pose a threat to America's national security or foreign policy.

Being out of the 'Entity List' means that now these major nuclear institutions of India will be able to use American technology and equipment without any special restrictions. At the same time, 11 organizations of China have been added to the 'Entity List'. Apart from this, America has given India permission to avail advanced AI chips without any restriction. With this, India has joined the list of 18 countries which get these special technical facilities.

America's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told in Delhi IIT that during PM Narendra Modi's last visit to America, removal of these restrictions was discussed in his meeting with NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. Sullivan said the United States began working on a project for civil nuclear cooperation nearly 20 years ago, but the time has now come to fully realize it.
