New Delhi: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan experienced a life-threatening encounter with an unidentified intruder at his plush Bandra residence. During an attempted burglary on Thursday (16 January 2025), the 54-year-old actor was viciously attacked multiple times. He was then rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an auto rickshaw, where he underwent several surgeries and is currently recovering.
The incident occurred between 2:00 and 2:30 am, and Saif was transported to the hospital between 3:00 and 3:30 am. The Mumbai Police have been investigating the case; however, many questions remain unanswered even after more than 30 hours. The assailant responsible for the attack has not yet been apprehended.

On January 16, the intruder was captured on CCTV, where he is seen walking down the staircase after the attack. However, questions remain regarding his disappearance after that. Did he escape using a vehicle, or did he hide somewhere nearby?
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have formed 20 teams to track down and arrest the assailant. According to police officials, the teams are utilising their network of informers to locate him.
The crime branch and the local police have also collected technical data, including records of mobile phones active in the area at the time of the burglary attempt, a police official confirmed to news agency PTI.
Additionally, evidence has been gathered from the residence of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Searches were conducted with the assistance of a forensic team and a dog squad at several locations in Mumbai to trace the attacker.
The police are also examining CCTV footage from the building, which shows the intruder armed with a Hexa blade and a wooden stick. Nevertheless, several questions remain unanswered. For instance, why did the CCTV cameras, including those installed at the entrance, fail to capture the intruder’s movements clearly? Additionally, has the auto-rickshaw driver, who transported Saif to the hospital, been questioned?
Saif Ali Khan sustained six stab wounds during the attack. After undergoing multiple surgeries, he is now reported to be out of danger. According to the staff employed by the celebrity couple, the intruder entered Jeh’s room and, upon being spotted, engaged in a physical altercation with some staff members and the actor himself. Jeh’s nanny also reported that the assailant demanded Rs 1 crore during the incident.
