Media was exposing Pakistan on Champions Trophy preparations, then PCB banned journalists

Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has completely banned the entry and movement of media organizations in the stadiums located in Karachi and Lahore. This decision has been taken due to the ongoing renovation work in the stadiums where the Champions Trophy matches are to be played in February 2025. Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi stadiums will host the Champions Trophy. However, the renovation work of these stadiums has not been completed yet.

Due to the delay in renovation work, there was speculation that the Champions Trophy matches could be shifted to UAE. However, PCB has denied these rumours.

PCB has taken this step when the news of the stadium not being ready is going viral in international and domestic media. PCB is very angry with these news and has imposed some strict restrictions on the media. Now the media will be allowed to visit the stadium only on a scheduled day and that too in the presence of PCB media representatives. Apart from this, the media will be able to take photos and videos only as per the instructions of the PCB.

A PCB official said, “Some people are entering the stadiums without permission and making videos showing minor issues in the construction work. This is harming the image of Pakistan. “By picking up these news, the international media is showing that we are not ready to host the Champions Trophy.”

It is noteworthy that the opening match of the tournament will be held between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi on 19th February. At the same time, the Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai. The great match between India and Pakistan will be played in Dubai on 23 February.
