Maruti Suzuki of India Limited today launched the company's first BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), e Vitara, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. E Vitara is built on a completely new EV platform HEARTECT-e. According to Maruti Suzuki, this platform has been designed on three main principles, which include exceptional strength, structural strength, a spacious cabin and high levels of safety.

Talking about dimensions, the length of E Vitara is 4,275 mm, whose wheelbase is 2,700 mm, height is 1,640 mm and width is 1,800 mm. Its flat floor design optimizes cabin space, while it houses a high-capacity battery pack.

The E Vitara features a digital cockpit with a twin-deck floating console, a newly designed bespoke steering wheel, a fixed-glass sunroof and multi-colour ambient lighting that complements the soft-touch dual-tone materials.

The Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara is equipped with a 25.65 cm (10.1-inch) digital display and a 26.04 cm (10.25-inch) multi-information display, which shows the driver controls and other information on the car. Wireless connectivity and a premium sound system from 'Infiniti by Harman' add to the luxurious feel inside the car.

The E-Vitara has ventilated front seats and a best-in-segment 10-way power-adjusted driver seat. The 40:20:40 split configuration, reclining and sliding function provides best-in-segment seating for the rear seat passengers. Apart from this, the features include a rear seat armrest with a cupholder, which gives the best experience for long journeys.

The e Vitara offers 2 battery options, each paired with different powertrain configurations. The 49kWh battery powers a front axle-mounted motor that produces 144hp and 189Nm of torque. At the same time, the 61kWh battery is equipped with a front electric motor which generates 174hp and 189Nm torque.

For great efficiency, the Big Battery All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system is also available, which adds a rear-mounted 65hp motor. This configuration offers a combined output of 184hp and 300Nm of torque. Although Maruti has not revealed the exact range figures, the larger battery pack is expected to deliver an impressive range of over 500 km.

The E Vitara has three selectable modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. Along with this there is also a dedicated snow terrain mode. For added convenience, the vehicle has a regenerative braking system, which enables a one-pedal driving experience.

Further optimizing efficiency, the e Vitara includes Adaptive Grille Shutters that automatically adjust as per driving conditions.

More than 50% of the structure of the e Vitara is made using high tensile steel. The vehicle also includes an advanced battery protection system. Equipped with Level 2 ADAS, the e-Vitra offers excellent driving safety. Let us tell you, its safety features include 7 airbags, which also includes driver-side knee airbag. Apart from this, it also has an electronic parking brake, all-disc brakes, e-call functionality and a tire pressure monitoring system.
