'We were warmly welcomed': Pakistani star's honest comment on playing in India
Pakistan's explosive batsman Fakhar Zaman said that he will miss playing in India as he had a great time when he came to India during the 2023 World Cup. In the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai.
“Yes, we will definitely miss (playing in India),” Fakhar Zaman told Sports Tak.
“We enjoyed a lot during our visit there for the ODI World Cup 2023. We were very happy with the support and hospitality we received there. When we went to Hyderabad for the first time, the local people welcomed us warmly, they showered their love on us. Yes, we will miss all this,” Zaman said.
Zaman is likely to be included in Pakistan's squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The left-handed batsman had scored a century in the 2017 Champions Trophy final between the two teams, in which Pakistan won the tournament. Zaman said, “If India had come to Pakistan, we would have given them even greater welcome and hospitality, but they are not coming. That's fine, but we are excited to play against them in Dubai.” The Indian team has not participated in a bilateral series against Pakistan since 2012.
Now they will play against each other in the Champions Trophy 2025 on 23 February. The Champions Trophy is returning after more than seven years. Pakistan last hosted an ICC tournament in 1996, when they co-hosted the Cricket World Cup with India and Sri Lanka. In the last Champions Trophy in 2017, Pakistan won the right to host the 2025 edition by defeating India in the final. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has ensured that the stadiums in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore are being upgraded to host the event. Important matches will be played at each venue, including group-stage matches and knockout matches.
