Four family members in Hanoi’s Phu Xuyen District were found dead in their home on Friday afternoon, with the cause of death still unknown.
The victims were Dao Thi Nhat, approximately 80 years old, her daughter-in-law, who was in late 40s, and two grandsons aged 17 and 19.
Vu Van Vuong, Nhat’s son, and the husband and father of the victims, is currently unaccounted for.
The incident occurred in a three-room house in the outlying district, over 30 km south of Hanoi’s center.
According to a neighbor, Nhat’s daughter, who is Vuong’s sister, discovered her mother dead in bed at around 2 p.m. on Friday. The bodies of the daughter-in-law and two grandsons were later found under the bed in their bedroom.
Vuong and his wife are self-employed and have three children, the eldest of whom was away from home at the time of the incident. Neighbors reported no prior arguments or unusual activity in the family.
As of 7:30 p.m. Friday, police had cordoned off the alley surrounding the house and continued their investigation. The exact time and cause of death for the victims remain unclear.
