Virat Kohli and Kl Rahul to miss the upcoming Ranji match, Reports make a Shocking revelation
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been ruled out of the next round of Ranji Trophy matches due to injuries, says an ESPNCricinfo report. The report cites the two cricketers who have told BCCI medical staff they have some niggles and will not take part in the matches starting January 23. Kohli has suffered neck pain that required an injection and Rahul’s elbow problem prevents him from participating in Karnataka’s match against Punjab. But there will be quite a few stars of India participating in the Ranji Trophy matches-Rishabh Pant (Delhi), Shubman Gill (Punjab), and Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra).
Mandatory domestic cricket, restrictions on the presence of families and personal staff on tours, and a bar on individual endorsements during the series are among a slew of measures unveiled by the BCCI on Thursday in a 10-point policy to promote “discipline and unity” in the embattled national cricket team.
“Trivial violations would invite sanctions that would range from deduction of the retainer fee from central contracts to a bar on playing in the cash-rich Indian Premier League.”
The measures were announced in the wake of the disastrous tour of Australia and a home whitewash series against New Zealand.
Moreover, the Board has sanctioned only a two-week window for families to be with the players on overseas tours, and further restrictions on personal staff and commercial shoots.
Any exceptions or deviations must, at all times, be approved in advance by the Chairman of the Selection Committee and Head Coach. Noncompliance with such policy may lead to disciplinary action which the BCCI may consider warranted,” reads the Board policy.
“BCCI further reserves the right to take disciplinary action against a player which will involve a sanction from playing in such BCCI tournaments including the IPL; and to make deductions from retainer amounts/match fees under BCCI Player contract,” it warns.
