The movie was made under a budget of Rs 2 crore and went on to crash all the records, became a cult classic and earned Rs 35 crore. While initially, the movie did not work on the big screens, it was then the word-of-mouth method which proved to have worked for the film. The movie was created. When it comes to footfall alone, one blockbuster stands out, with an unmatched 25 crore tickets sold — the highest for any film. Fees of Sholay Cast

In the iconic film Sholay, Hindi cinema’s He-Man Dharmendra was paid Rs 1.5 lakh for his role as Veeru. Sanjeev Kumar, who portrayed Thakur, earned Rs 1.25 lakh, while Amitabh Bachchan received Rs 1 lakh for his performance. Hema Malini charged Rs 75,000 for her portrayal of the lively and mischievous Basanti.

The film’s most memorable character, the villain Gabbar Singh, was played by Amjad Khan, who earned Rs 65,000 for the role. Among the main cast, Jaya Bachchan received the lowest fee, earning Rs 35,000 for her role as Radha, claimed reports.

Further, supporting actors and other casts including Mac Mohan, Viju Khote, and AK Hangal received Rs 12,000 Rs 10,000, and Rs 8,000 respectively.
