New Delhi: In the latest development, the second suspect identified as Aakash Kailash Kannojia has been detained at the Drug Railway Station in Chhattisgarh in connection with Saif Ali Khan stabbing case. Mumbai Police is expected to reach soon to question the 31-year-old suspect to confirm if he is connected with the case.
Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Mumbai residence on the dreadful night of January 16, 2025. Reportedly, the actor was trying to protect his youngest son Jeh when he was stabbed six times by the unidentified intruder.
Second suspect detained in Chattisgarh
According to Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials, the suspect was caught from the Mumbai-Howrah Jananeswari Express. The 21-year-old suspect Aakash belongs to Mumbai. Around 2 pm, the train reached Durg and when the suspect deboarded the train from the general compartment, he was taken into custody. He is now being interrogated. Additionally, the suspect was travelling without ticket. When RPF questioned him, he first said that he was going to Nagpur, then said that he was going to Bilaspur.

As per the officials, , Mumbai Police had sent them the suspect’s photo, location, and train number to RPF, after which he was detained. The suspect was then made to talk to Mumbai Police through video call. The team of Mumbai police is now on their way to determine if the detained suspect is the attacker, who attacked Saif Ali Khan or someone else.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital around 3-3:30 am on January 16 after being stabbed by the attacker six times. He underwent two surgeries and got around 20 stitches in total. He is now recovering well and is expected to get discharged by next week.
