Seema Biswas: Answer with deeds, not words
Seema Biswas National Award-winning actress Seema Biswas says it is important to let one's work speak for itself rather than reacting to criticism. She was speaking at a masterclass at the 10th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival (AIFF). In this masterclass, he shares experiences and insights from his illustrious career in the film industry. This session was conducted by Prof. Shiva stepped in.
Talking about her journey, Biswas said, 'Initially I wanted to become a great dancer, but my first experience in acting made me realize that this is my real goal. My journey started from a small village and took me to Oscar.”
Talking about her iconic role in Bandit Queen,
She said, “After reading the script, I could not sleep for three days. I knew this role was for me. The experience of working on this film was profound. It was a big deal. He will always be with me. After Bandit Queen, I wanted to prove that I am not just a controversial actress but also a versatile artiste. So I decided to remain silent.
Biswas advises aspiring actors, “Be honest in every role. Take inspiration from your characters, but never try to copy them. Imitation destroys the soul of the original performance. The essence of the role is honesty.” While preparing, you must become completely immersed and live the life of the character around the clock. For me, every role starts from scratch and I completely dedicate myself to making it happen.
