Rohit Sharma gave a shocking statement regarding playing Ranji Trophy, said this big thing
New Delhi: The captain and leading batsman of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, has been struggling with his poor batting form in recent times. He was able to score only 31 runs in three Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and due to poor form, he did not play even in the last Test match. However, in the last 15 Test innings, he has scored only one half-century. Recently, he was seen practicing with the Mumbai team at the Wankhede Stadium, raising the possibility of him playing Ranji Trophy.
Confirmation on playing Ranji Trophy
Rohit Sharma has confirmed his availability in Mumbai team's match against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23 in the second phase of Ranji Trophy. However, regarding the participation of star players in domestic matches, he said that due to the busy schedule of the international cricket calendar, it is difficult for the players to find time. Along with this, he also said that no player takes a major domestic tournament like Ranji Trophy lightly.
Players never sit at home for 45 days
Rohit said in the press conference that if we look at our calendar in the last 6-7 years, it has never happened that players have sat at home for 45 days. This happens only when there is no international match scheduled after the IPL is over. The domestic cricket season starts from October and continues till March, and players who are not playing for the national team in all formats can participate in domestic cricket during this period.
Rohit Sharma further said
Rohit Sharma further said that he has started playing Test cricket regularly from 2019 and in such a situation he needs time to keep himself fresh. However, it is not that any player is taking domestic cricket lightly. Rohit Sharma made his Test cricket debut for the Indian team in 2013. He scored centuries in his first two Test matches, but after that his form fluctuated and he kept being in and out of the team. But since 2019, he has been continuously a part of the Test team and till now he has scored 4301 runs in 67 Test matches, which includes 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
