BJP raises questions on income, loan disclosures of Kejriwal, Sisodia

Delhiदिल्ली : BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj have expressed concern over the disclosure of income and loans of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, BJP leaders sought clarification on “discrepancies” in the financial records of AAP leaders, claiming that these figures create suspicion among citizens. Sachdeva questioned how the declared income of Kejriwal – a retired income tax officer and a former chief minister – was less than the per capita income of the city. He claimed that Kejriwal's income tax returns over the past decade appear to be inconsistent,

Especially considering the fact that their income had increased 40 times in a year during the Covid pandemic when the controversial liquor policy was formulated. The BJP president also raised questions on Sisodia's election affidavit. Sachdeva said, “The savings figures in Sisodia’s affidavit appear to be normal like that of any middle class family. However, when we investigate the education loan of Rs 1.5 crore reported by him, it indicates possible manipulation.” These loans were allegedly provided by three acquaintances of Sisodia, Romesh Chand Mittal, Deepali and Gunita Arora, who lent him Rs 86 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 58 lakh respectively during the controversial liquor policy period.
