Pushpa box office collection: Allu Arjun’s film hits a slump on Day 45

New Delhi: The worldwide box office performance of Allu Arjun’s much-awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule has hit a major roadblock, even with the release of the extended cut. After 45 days in theatres, the film has grossed Rs 1731.65 crores globally. However, the drastic 61.58% drop in earnings during its sixth week has raised concerns, as the film struggles to meet its projected Rs 1800 crore target.

Released with great anticipation on January 17, the extended cut of Pushpa 2 was expected to reignite interest among fans. The “reloaded” version, however, has failed to bring the momentum the film desperately needs to stay afloat in its seventh week. By the end of day 45, Pushpa 2 was still trailing behind major blockbusters like Baahubali 2 and Dangalwhich have set the benchmark for Indian cinema’s box office earnings.

Disappointing Week 6 or Pushpa 2

By its sixth week, Pushpa 2 had already experienced a significant dip in earnings. While the film continues to hold strong in Telugu and Hindi markets, its business has practically stalled in other languages, including Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil. On January 18, the film earned just Rs 1.1 crore, with Rs 0.8 crore coming from the Hindi version and Rs 0.3 crore from the Telugu version. The film’s earnings in Tamil were negligible, further indicating its declining interest across various regions.

Initially, there were high hopes that the extended cut would spark a renewed interest in the action-packed drama. But, despite the additional content, the film’s box office numbers have not shown a significant boost. With Rs 1731.65 crore in worldwide collections as of Day 45, Pushpa 2 is still over Rs 100 crore away from its makers’ reported Rs 1831 crore.

Can Pushpa 2 reach Rs 1800 crore?

The film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, had previously claimed that Pushpa 2 had surpassed Rs 1831 crore in 32 days, calling it an “industry hit.” However, with current trends suggesting a slowdown in collections, Pushpa 2 is unlikely to cross the Rs 1800 crore mark anytime soon. Despite being a commercial success, it seems unlikely that Pushpa 2 will break the records set by Baahubali 2 (Rs 1790 crore) and Dangal (Rs 2070 crore).
