Delhi government will build houses for sanitation workers, Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to PM Modi

New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday demanded the central government to provide land at concessional rates to sanitation workers. He has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that if the Central Government provides land, then the Delhi Government will build houses on it for sanitation workers.

Kejriwal said, “There is a big problem of housing in Delhi. Government sanitation workers live in government accommodation as long as they are in service, but after retirement they have to vacate the house. “After this they are forced to live in slums or come to the streets.”

Housing will be available in affordable installments

Arvind Kejriwal has written in the letter that if the sanitation workers are given land at concessional rates, then the Delhi government will build houses on it and give it to them. Arrangements will be made to pay the price of the house in easy installments, so that it does not burden them financially. He also stressed on extending the scheme to other government employees, especially lower level employees.

Sanitation workers called 'backbone'

In the letter, Kejriwal described sanitation workers as the backbone of the city's sanitation system and said that after retirement, their position becomes unsafe. “Buying or renting a house to live in Delhi is expensive, which makes it difficult for retired employees. The central government needs to take immediate steps in this direction.”

Appeal to the center to give land

The Chief Minister of Delhi said that since the matters related to land in Delhi are under the Central Government, it is the responsibility of the Central Government to provide land at concessional rates to the sanitation workers. “I am confident that the Prime Minister will accept this proposal and start work on it as soon as possible.”
