The war in Gaza finally stopped, Hamas scared of Netanyahu's threat, released the names of Israeli hostages
New Delhi: Following the Gaza ceasefire, Hamas has released the names of three female hostages it plans to release on Sunday. This announcement ended the deadlock on the issue of ceasefire. Hamas posted on its Telegram account that it would release Romy Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher as part of a ceasefire with Israel.
Delay in ceasefire due to Hamas
Israel said that the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect at 11:15 am local time, whereas it was supposed to come into effect at 8:30 am. There was a delay of about three hours due to Hamas not releasing the list of hostages. As soon as the ceasefire came into effect, there were celebrations in war-torn areas and many Palestinians began returning to their homes.
hostage women to be released
1. Doron Steinbrecher (31 years old) is a veterinary nurse in Israel. She was in her apartment in Gaza during the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023. 2. Emily Damari (28 years old) has dual citizenship of Britain and Israel. She was taken hostage from Kibbutz Kfar Azza. However, the other hostages along with him were released last November. 3. Romi Gonen (24 years old) was captured by Hamas terrorists while trying to escape from the Supernova Festival after Hamas attacked the festival, killing hundreds of Israeli civilians.
Netanyahu's warning
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said that the ceasefire would not come into effect until Hamas provided Israel with a list of the three hostages who were to be released. Netanyahu ordered the military to stop the ceasefire from taking effect until Hamas handed over the list.
Delay in announcement of names by Hamas
The Israeli army continued attacks on Gaza because an agreement on a ceasefire was not being reached. Army spokesman Daniel Hagari said the ceasefire would not take effect until Hamas provided a list of hostages. Eight people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Khan Yunis due to a delay in the ceasefire. Gaza's health ministry confirmed three deaths in further attacks in Gaza City on Sunday. Hamas cited technical reasons as the reason for the delay in announcing the names. He also said that he is aware of his commitment to the ceasefire agreement.
