Mohammad Shami’s post on Instagram sets internet ablaze Check out
One of the best fast bowlers in the current Indian lineup is Mohammad Shami, who has just returned to play for almost 14 months. The routine that this 34-year-old pacemaker had declined was most recently witnessed in an ODI World Cup 2023 final when Australia beat India, on November 19, 2023. All these details were in the context of naming him for the T20Is; the news followed just four days after he was announced for India’s five-match series versus England starting on January 11. Their first series match, scheduled for January 22 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, was announced.
Shami shared with the world in a post that is now trending on the internet packing his bag or kit; the post had this note, “The wait is over! Match mode ON as I prepare to rejoin Team India.”
Among others in his support in the T20I series against England will be Arshdeep; the latter is one of the most successful fast bowlers that India has in the shortest format of the game and was even the joint-highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2024.
He’s likely to feature in the ODI squad for the three matches on home soil against England and then in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India has their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai, and if qualified, they might also play the final game in Dubai at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium-and the annual eight-nation series comes after a gap of eight years.
In a match of Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in Indore last month, Shami marked his vital return into domestic cricket with the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Shami made his T 20 debut way back in 2014 against Pakistan and has since then featured in 33 matches so far. Shami last played in the T 20 format for India on November 10 2022 against England.
