Schools Winter Vacation 2025: These states to reopen schools tomorrow

New Delhi: Since the weather conditions have improved a bit in the northern part of India schools are planning to reopen from tomorrow, January 20. Earlier, considering the safety of the students the school authority decided to extend the winter break.

UP schools reopening date after winter break

The cold wave in Uttar Pradesh led the District Magistrates (DMs) to extend the winter break in many regions. However, for Class 9 to 12, the school timings were revised from 9 AM to 12 noon.

In Agra, Etawah, Gorakhpur and Aligarh schools will reopen tomorrow, January 20. Earlier, for nursery to Class 8, the winter holidays got extended. However, schools in Meerut were closed till January 18. In Lucknow, Jhansi, Farrukhabad and Hathras the schools reopened on January 18. The school in these districts did not extend the holidays due to the cold wave.

Tamil Nadu school holiday till Jan 20

As per order, in Tamil Nadu schools will remain closed till tomorrow, January 20 on the account of Pongal celebration. Moreover, a heavy downpour was witnessed today in Chennai and other districts due to which the holiday might get extended. However, there is no such official confirmation till now.

Jammu and Kashmir school holidays

As per the School Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir and decision by the Minister of School Education, Sakina Itoo the schools in Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed till February 28, 2025.

The Meteorological Department earlier forecasted the cold weather conditions to continue and so the decision to extend winter break was taken for the safety of students. To know more about the school holidays, students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools.
