Pushpa 2 continues to mint money in several regions where it was released. The makers pulled off a masterstroke by adding an extra 20 minutes of footage and re-releasing the film under the title Pushpa 2 Reloaded on January 17, 2025. While the film’s performance after its initial Friday slowed down slightly, the Saturday collections were impressive.
Pushpa 2 reloaded opens with a bang
The occupancy in Hyderabad’s single screens was remarkable, with Pushpa 2 selling out in all theaters across the city and in parts of interior Andhra Pradesh. Audiences who watched the reloaded version appreciated the added footage, which helped connect previously unexplained plot points.
For example, Pushpa’s journey abroad in a container, which was not clearly explained in the theatrical version, is now fully detailed in the reloaded cut, providing better narrative clarity. Director Sukumar originally shot close to five hours of footage, and several key scenes have now been seamlessly incorporated into the reloaded version.
Additionally, Allu Arjun’s dialogues and a few impactful one-liners have been added, further enhancing the experience. The film has now completed 45 days of its theatrical run and amassed an astounding Rs 1850 crore worldwide, cementing its status as a massive hit.
In Hindi cinema, Pushpa 2 has become the biggest blockbuster to date, earning over Rs 800 crore. While Sankranthi 2025 releases have taken over most screens, Pushpa 2 has strategically extended its run with the reloaded version, making headlines once again.
Netflix bags the OTT rights of Pushpa 2
Netflix has acquired the OTT rights to the film for a record-breaking amount and is set to stream it by the end of January 2025. However, Allu Arjun’s celebration of the film’s success was dampened by the Sandhya Theater stampede controversy, which also led to his arrest. Despite the setbacks, his performance in the film received widespread acclaim, winning the hearts of many fans.
