Rishabh Pant set to be unveiled as new LSG captain at event in Kolkata: Report
IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spent a whopping fee of INR 27 crore to acquire the services of India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for the upcoming season of the league.
The franchise is now reportedly set to announce Pant as their captain at an upcoming event in Kolkata. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka has called for a media interaction where Pant’s jersey is also expected to be unveiled.
At his former franchise Delhi Capitals (DC), the captaincy became a point of contention and led Pant to opt out of DC’s retention plans. Though the Delhi-based franchise was interested in retaining him, they weren’t fully committed to him leading the side. This led the wicketkeeper-batter to enter the auction.
Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni, and Mohsin Khan were the players retained by the Lucknow-based franchise ahead of the auction.
They found a perfect leader in Pant to replace former skipper KL Rahul, who failed to impress during the 2024 season as the side finished seventh on the table.
