Thiruvananthapuram:- A hospital in Kerala has become a ray of hope for infertile couples due to its remarkable success rate in IVF treatment. Through advanced IVF methods, more than 500 babies were born at SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Additionally, infertility treatment also resulted in the birth of many children. Couples from Kerala and other states who had lost all hope got successful treatment.
State Health Minister Veena George said that the government is giving great importance to infertility treatment. He said, “There are many couples who are eagerly waiting to become parents. The government aims to make these treatments, which are expensive in the private sector, accessible to the common people. For this purpose, modern facilities are being set up in infertility treatment clinics.
In addition, the Department of Reproductive Medicine at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College as well as reproductive medicine units at Kottayam and Kozhikode Medical Colleges are operational. Apart from this, major maternal and child hospitals under the health department also run infertility clinics. Courses in reproductive medicine are also being conducted in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. This helps in producing more experts in this field.
The Health Minister congratulated the entire team of the Reproductive Medicine Department of SAT Hospital for setting a successful example. First IVF initiative among state hospitals The Department of Reproductive Medicine of SAT Hospital achieved a unique feat by completing the first IVF initiative in India. This center became operational in 2012. Advanced technologies like hysteroscopy and incubator were installed.
Now there is an IVF theatre, a laparoscopy theater and IVF and andrology labs for testing. There is also a cryopreservation system to store eggs, sperm and embryos for cancer patients. Outpatient services are available Monday through Saturday. The Health Minister said, our aim is to further strengthen the reproductive medicine department at SAT Hospital so that more and more couples can get comfort and hope.
