EPFO Streamlines Online Procedures for Personal Detail Corrections and Fund Transfers | Read
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced significant reforms enabling its 7.6 crore subscribers to independently correct personal details and initiate fund transfers online, eliminating the need for employer intervention.
Under the revised procedures, members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) is Aadhaar-verified can update personal information such as name, date of birth, and gender directly through the EPFO portal. This self-correction process is authenticated via Aadhaar-based One-Time Password (OTP), ensuring both security and convenience.
Additionally, the EPFO has simplified the process for transferring provident fund (PF) accounts. Members with fully compliant e-KYC can now file online transfer claims authenticated by Aadhaar OTP directly with the EPFO, bypassing the previous requirement for employer verification. This change is expected to expedite the transfer process, which previously averaged 12 to 13 days for employer verification.
These initiatives are part of the EPFO’s broader efforts to enhance user experience and operational efficiency. By leveraging technology, the organization aims to provide seamless and transparent services to its members, aligning with the government’s Digital India mission.
Subscribers are encouraged to ensure their Aadhaar details are up-to-date in the EPFO records to fully benefit from these new services. Detailed guidelines and support are available on the official EPFO website.
