Mumbai Mumbai Police is interrogating Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, accused of fatal knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan. Shariful was arrested by Mumbai and Thane police from Thane at 2 am on Saturday night. According to a Mumbai Police officer, during interrogation, Shariful told that after attacking Saif Ali Khan, he escaped and slept at a bus stop in Bandra. After this he caught a local train and then reached Worli, Mumbai. Saif Ali Khan's attacker Shariful has told the police that he climbed 7-8 floors of stairs to Saif's apartment. Then reached the 12th floor through a duct and pipe. He entered Saif Ali Khan's house through the open window of the bathroom.

Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad has told the police that when he came out of Saif Ali Khan's bathroom, the female employee of the actor's house saw him. Shariful had an argument with the female child care employee and demanded Rs 1 crore. After which Saif Ali Khan arrived and caught him. On this, Shariful attacked Saif Ali Khan several times with a knife. According to Shariful, Saif locked the flat, but he escaped the way he had come. According to Mumbai Police, Shariful had come with the intention of stealing, but he did not know that the house belonged to Saif Ali Khan.

Mumbai Police also found a hammer, screwdriver and nylon rope from the bag of Mohammad Shariful Islam Azad. The knife with which he attacked Saif Ali Khan has already been recovered by the police from the children's room. A 2.5 inch piece of this knife broke off and got stuck in Saif Ali's back near the spine. Which the doctors have removed through surgery. Saif Ali Khan was attacked at around 2.30 am on 16 January. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in a bleeding condition.
