Expediting the process of facilitating UAN-based ledger was considered in the top level meeting of EPFO
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the Executive Committee of the EPF Central Board of Trustees discussed several important agenda items in the meeting held here, including progress in the implementation of Centralized IT Enabled System (CITES), pension status on higher salaries and option disputes. Resolution (ADR) mechanism proposals are included.
The Committee chaired by Sumita Dawra, Secretary, Ministry of Labor and Employment, took stock of the progress made in the implementation of CITES 2.01 to facilitate UAN-based ledger for all member accounts thus allowing faster access to funds and processing of claims. Gave. The successful rollout of CPPS (Centralized Pension Payment System) aimed at streamlining pension processes was reviewed, benefiting 68 lakh pensioners by ensuring timely and accurate pension disbursement to pensioners.
The Committee was apprised about speedy investigation of pending applications of more than 1 lakh cases and regular monitoring of regional offices and issuance of 21,000 demand letters by issuing clarifications in the last month. The disposal of cases has increased by about 58,000. The committee recommended holding regular video conferences with employers to expedite the rectification of returned cases and submission of their joint options, the last date for which is January 31, 2025.
It was directed to complete maximum work within the approved framework by the end of the current financial year. Instructions were also given to expedite the high amount cases related to public undertakings. The Committee also discussed the proposed adoption of the ADR mechanism which aims to significantly reduce the litigation burden and associated delays, promote faster and more amicable resolution of disputes pending at multiple levels, including industrial tribunals, particularly the EPF and As per the MP Act, 1952, this approach will provide quick social security to the people involved, save resources and increase trust among the stakeholders, the official statement said.
Additionally, the EC reviewed plans to improve the grievance redressal process to enhance service delivery, streamline processes and reduce hardships faced by members. Continuous analysis of complaints in EPFO has led to identification and classification of common problems.
The reform process aims to address the root cause of these problems and resolve these issues through systemic reforms. In this context, EPFO earlier this week issued two instructions on simplification of online process of updating member profile and simplification of PF transfer process.
