Who is Saif's attacker?

The accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad was arrested from nearby Thane city. The accused is a citizen of Bangladesh, who changed his name to Bijoy Das after entering India illegally.

With what intention did the attacker enter Saif's house?

• Police said that he had entered the Bollywood star's flat located in 'Satguru Sharan' building in Bandra in the early hours of January 16 with the intention of theft.
• “He was sleeping at a bus stop near Patwardhan Garden in Bandra West till 7 am on January 16 after the incident,” the officer said. Later he boarded a train and reached Worli (Central Mumbai).

The officer said, “Our investigation has found that he climbed the stairs till the seventh-eighth floor, then entered the 'duct' area and reached the 12th floor with the help of a pipe installed there and entered the actor's house through the bathroom window. Entered the flat. Then he came out of the bathroom, where he was seen by the actor's staff. After this, incidents started which culminated in the attack.'' The accused started arguing with a domestic help (nay) of the house and started demanding Rs 1 crore. He said that after hearing the commotion, Saif Ali Khan reached there and caught him from the front.

According to the police, “The accused was shocked and attacked Saif Ali Khan with a knife in the back. Later Saif Ali Khan closed the flat thinking that the accused was trapped inside. However, the accused managed to escape from the same area from where he had entered. We have recovered a hammer, screwdriver, nylon rope and other material from his bag.

The officer said that it was only after seeing the news broadcast on television and posts related to the incident on social media that the accused came to know that he had attacked a Bollywood actor. The official said a detailed investigation has been launched into how he entered the country illegally, what kind of documents he possessed and how he obtained them.

Let us tell you that after being produced in Bandra court, the accused was sent to police custody till January 24. The court said that the police's argument of international conspiracy in this case cannot be rejected. Police told the court that the alleged attacker was a Bangladeshi national and the motive behind the incident needed to be ascertained.
