Rishabh Pant becomes the new captain of Lucknow Super Giants

Kolkata. Rishabh Pant has been officially appointed as the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant, who was previously the captain of Delhi Capitals, decided to enter the auction ahead of the 18th season of the competition and became the most expensive buy in IPL history. Super Giants have added the left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman for a record Rs 27 crore.

Announcing the appointment of Pant as captain, franchise owner Sanjeev Goenka said, “I see a born leader in Pant. He is a tremendous leader. I think he can become the best captain of IPL. People keep 'Mahi, Rohit' in the list of most successful captains of IPL. Mark my words, after 10-12 years it will be 'Mahi, Rohit and Rishabh Pant'.”

After being appointed captain, Rishabh Pant said in the press conference held at RPSG House, Kolkata, “I want to personally thank Sanjiv Goenka (team owner) sir. Thank you to the entire LSG management for reposing faith in me and including me in the team. I will try to give my 200 percent to live up to your trust.” Excited about joining the new team, Pant said that he is eager to make a fresh start with new energy.

Expressing happiness over the auction regarding the team, Pant said, “Definitely happy with the team. We have a mix of young and experienced players. Together we will make a united effort to take this franchise to new heights.”
