Infosys Will Hire 20,000 Freshers This Year

During the time of pandemic, there was a hiring freeze and slowdown faced by the IT industry.

But this has changed during the last financial year as the Indian IT major Infosys hired 21,000 individuals from campuses across the globe as per the report.

Infosys Planning A Huge Hire

Continuing this trend, this year the IT firm is planning to take the number further up to 25,000.

Interestingly, this announcement comes during a time when Infosys is gearing up for the upcoming talent war.

The firm appears to compete for the best talent to scale performance and outpace the lingering challenges from the previous year.

Besides these hiring efforts, Infosys has also announced pay hikes from July.

If we consider the last quarter, the net hiring for Infosys stood at 10,309 and 17,248 in the previous financial year.

Gearing Up For Upcoming Talent War

Further, the company reported an attrition rate of 15.2 per cent at the end of the March quarter, in a recent conference.

This represents a sharp spike from 10 percent in the previous quarter.

It is noteworthy here that this spike comes despite the company undertaking a pay hike in January.

Considering the high demand for work and limited availability of skilled workers, CEO Salil Parekh hinted towards a brewing talent war in the IT/ITES industry in a recent analysts conference.

Moving ahead, the IT service provider guided for a consolidated operating margin of 22-24 per cent.

This is suggesting that the company is expecting some pressure on profitability owing to the higher spend on talent retention and pay hikes.

Earlier, Infosys reported a consolidated operating margin of 24.5 percent in 2020-21.

This seems to be a tense climate for employers as hiring picks up and professionals look out for the best opportunities supplemented with the right compensation and flexibility.

This is yet to be seen as to how companies elevate their practices and offerings to be the employer of choice.
