BJP targets gangrape and murder of girl child, controversy over CM Siddaramaiah’s statement – ..
Recent cases of gangrape of a woman and rape and murder of a 6-year-old girl in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru have created a stir in the state. BJP has strongly criticized the Congress government on these incidents and Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s resignation has been demanded.
In response to the opposition’s allegations, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gave a controversial statement. During the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim’ rally in Belagavi, he said, “Weren’t there rapes during the BJP rule? Rapes should never happen and women should be protected. There are always bad elements in the society. We will take strict action against them.”
BJP raised questions on security
BJP Karnataka state president Vijayendra Yediyurappa hit out at the Congress government, saying, “Karnataka, which was once known for its culture and security, has now become a hub of crimes and atrocities against women.” He described the recent Bengaluru gangrape as an example of law and order failure and said the incident highlights the government’s failure to ensure the safety of women.
Outrage over increasing crime in the state
The BJP has warned that if crimes are not curbed, the public will hold the government accountable. The party alleges that the Congress government has failed to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The controversy over the Chief Minister’s statement is deepening, and the BJP is seeing it as a sign of leniency towards criminals. At the same time, the state government has assured of strict action against the criminals.
