Airtel ready – Obnews
If you are eagerly waiting for satellite internet service in India, then there is good news for you. Airtel is ready to launch its satellite internet service in India even before Elon Musk's Starlink. Bharti Enterprises Vice Chairman Rajan Bharti Mittal told in an interview to ANI that Airtel has completed the necessary preparations for its satellite telecom service and is only waiting for the government's approval.
Base stations ready in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu
Airtel has completed construction of two base stations in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The company has launched 635 satellites, which are already providing their services in many countries. Rajan said that this service will be provided at affordable prices in remote areas.
Starlink may be in trouble
This move of Airtel may challenge Elon Musk's Starlink. Starlink wants to start its services in India but has not yet received government approval. Additionally, since Starlink's services are expensive, Airtel may gain an edge in the Indian market at cheaper rates.
Calls will be possible even without signal: ICR facility started
Now Jio, BSNL and Airtel users can make calls from any network, even if their SIM does not have signal. The government has launched Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) facility on January 17. Through this new feature, all network users can access 4G services through a single tower built by DBN.
Better network and faster services
Under the ICR facility, mobile companies will use the same tower. This will require the construction of fewer towers and make the network faster and more efficient. This step will help improve services especially in rural and remote areas.
With these new initiatives of Airtel and the government, the dream of Digital India will be realized faster.
